Prototype design and construction cost vary depending on the complexity of the product. Generally, the consultation should provide us with enough information to allow the preparation of a fixed price quote for the design and construction of a product prototype.

Product Evaluation and Preliminary Patent Search

The consultation is strongly recommended, and often results in savings to clients of hundreds or even thousands of dollars in product development fees.

At T2 Design the product development process generally begins with a consultation in which we evaluate your product, conduct a preliminary U.S. patent search, assess and attempt to correct any design problems, and determine a strategy for bringing the product to market. The consultation provides an opportunity for design brainstorming, and the discussion of pertinent issues including: patenting, manufacturing, marketing strategy, project risk, and licensing.

The consultation will be conducted by T2 Design President Paul Berman (Click here for resume), and may be either by phone or in person. The cost of the one-hour consultation is $125. Payment may be made by check in advance, or by charging to Visa/MasterCard.

Confidentiality
During the consultation all confidential aspects of our discussion will be protected by a Confidential Disclosure Agreement which T2 Design can provide. In addition, it is generally recommended that you establish inventorship of your idea by making a written record of it, and signing and dating the record with an impartial witness.

Patent Searches
T2 Design conducts patent searches only with highly experienced patent searchers. The fee for a United States patentability search is $450. A combined International and United States patentability search, which includes a written patentability opinion from a patent attorney is $625. Both types of patentability searches include samples of the closest prior art patent references.
